I’ve proudly called Red Deer home since 2010, where I have established myself as a community builder. With a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Calgary and a Social Work diploma from Red Deer Polytechnic, I’ve spent over a decade in human services, supporting families through youth and women empowerment, employment skills development and cultural exchange.  

As the founder and Executive Director of the African Caribbean Centre of Central Alberta (ACCoCA), organizer of Red Deer’s Afro-Caribbean Festival, and with experience as an entrepreneur, I am passionate about bringing people together to create the conditions for a stronger local economy, supporting families, and celebrating culture and diversity. I am a recipient of the Mayor’s Community Builder Award, the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal, and the RDP Alumni Distinction Award.

I have been a proud member of Rotary for over a decade, sat on local boards, and successfully led local and international fundraising initiatives which support women’s health and education including establishing a school for over 200 boys and girls in Somalia.
